Work as opportunity and a fresh start, as freedom and personal redemption. This is the purpose of the "Reverse In" initiative launched by Montorio Prison: give genuine value to the term "social re-integration". And this is why Fieracavalli decided to welcome several detainees from this prison in Verona who, in the days running up to the event, helped set-up the enclosures for horses inside the exhibition area. Thanks to a carpentry workshop, inmates also made 57 awards in wood for all the sporting competitions hosted during the Show.
"An extraordinary initiative with great educational and therapeutic value for detainees. It is truly important for us to know that an event of such international calibre as this can also find space to help social initiatives," said the director of the Verona Penitentiary Institute, Maria Grazia Bregoli. Horses all the more and once again prove to be part of a multi-faceted and friendly world that helps - thanks to all these aspects - improve the lives of people who become involved in it.
The prison in Montorio has always had a stable with three horses so that all inmates can attend a course focusing on training and looking after these wonderful animals, thereby actively learning a job that may well become an occasion for a fresh start.
