Love for the equestrian world is firmly in the DNA of Riccardo Boricchi, the Show Director of Jumping Verona: «My father is a breeder of trotting horses. I grew up around horses. When I was 15, I began competing, taking part in various competitions and it was there that I discovered the love for the work I now do every day today».
Riccardo is perfectly aware of the elective affinity between people and horses and cultivates it even now that he no longer competes in the saddle. In addition to 10 horses, he has a special passion for Design de Riverland, who lives in the Arezzo-based centre and is looked after daily by his staff. Every morning when Riccardo is at the centre, he always visits his stables before going to work: «This is where I find the energy to start the day».
Passion for horses and experience gained at a competitive level saw Riccardo, over the years, become the organisational director of the Horses Riviera Resort and the Arezzo Equestrian Centre, as well as Show Director for Jumping Verona, the only Italian stage of the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM.
«It is the most important event scheduled in Italy alongside Piazza di Siena, so it is truly rewarding, as well as great honour, to manage it. My goal, every year, is always the same: improve the experience for horses, riders and grooms, through effective action over all four days of competitions».
Riccardo’s work to organise the 22nd edition of Jumping Verona, the flagship event at Fieracavalli, has just begun but the first results have already been achieved: «This year we will certainly expand the Rider’s Bar area inside the stables and create another for the grooms, so that they can also enjoy an even closer relationship with the horses, whose psycho-physical well-being has always been my top priority».
The bond between Riccardo and Fieracavalli began five years ago but actually has older roots: «Fieracavalli is a landmark for everyone who loves horses and the multi-faceted world around them. This is how it has been always for me. Even before 2018, when I began my collaboration called in by the Event Manager, I visited every edition of Fieracavalli in Verona: for all of us in this sector, it has always been a not to be missed occasion».
The appointment with the next edition of Jumping Verona, the only Italian stage of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ is at Fieracavalli 9-12 November 2023.
